Original Item: Only One Available. Officially Termed the "TOOL KIT, PIONEER, GENERAL UTILITY", this is a very nice Vietnam War Era Airplane Crash survival set, complete in its original canvas carrier. These sets were intended to help in the event of a crash or bail out, and would help the user to construct basic shelters in the field.
This example consists of a handle with a rubber grip, and has two attachments: a shovel head and a combination axe head & saw. The axe head also has a can opener and hammer end built onto it, so it can be used in many ways. Larger vehicles would be equipped with much larger and more extensive kits, but these were perfect for aircraft.
All of the components except for the handle have their correct military stock numbers and manufacturer codes on them. The carrier is marked as well, and also has the name Novak written with black marker in many places.
Condition of the set is very good, though it definitely does show use. There is even still dirt on the shovel head, and dried tree sap on the axe head. This is definitely a set that saw some use in the field.
Quite useful, this set is ready to display or even use!
